What is a sitemap?

12/05/2022 | by Patrick Fischer, M.Sc., Founder & Data Scientist: FDS
A site map is a list of all pages on a website, usually using a hierarchical format to show the structure of the website. This list of pages can have a hierarchical structure, indicated by subpages and headings, or it can be a list of all pages that are available on the website. Sitemaps are useful for search engines and other crawlers because they show the structure of a website and help them find and index all pages quickly and efficiently.
