Software architecture is the structure of the software that forms the basis for the development of a program or system. It defines the basic components of the system, the way in which these components interact with each other and the design principles according to which the system is created. Software architecture can be considered on both a technical and a business level, and both aspects must be combined in order to develop a successful system.
