HTTP (HyperText Transfer Protocol) is a communication protocol used to transfer data on the World Wide Web (WWW). It is mainly used to retrieve web pages and other resources from the Internet, but it can also be used to send information to servers, e.g. when filling out web forms. HTTP is a request-response protocol, where the client (e.g. a web browser) sends a request to a server to retrieve a specific resource, and the server responds with a reply containing the requested resource.
