Self-employment vs. self-employment - What is the correct spelling?

08/31/2023 | by Patrick Fischer, M.Sc., Founder & Data Scientist: FDS
The correct spelling is "self-reliance." The word "self-reliance" refers to the quality or state of a person or thing that acts or exists independently, autonomously, or self-reliantly. It is used in this context to express independence or autonomy, especially in a professional or business context. The variant "Selbständigkeit" was valid in German spelling until the reform in 1996, but was replaced by "Selbstständigkeit" by the new spelling. In current German spelling, therefore, "Selbstständigkeit" is the correct spelling.
