What is Apache?

Apache is a free, open source web server software package that can run on Unix-based systems and Windows operating systems. It is the most widely used web server on the market and is often used as the foundation for websites and web applications. Apache is most often combined with the Apache HTTP Server software package to host websites and web applications.
