Distribution tool or send it yourself? How to get your message into the press

01/10/2024 | by Patrick Fischer, M.Sc., Founder & Data Scientist: FDS

How you get your message out to the press depends entirely on your goals and resources. If you are willing to invest time and money in a professional press release, you could hire a press distribution company to send your press release to relevant media outlets. This is a great way to increase the visibility of your message.

Alternatively, you can send out your press release yourself. This will help you save costs, but it may take longer to get your message to the right media. First, you will need to research the contact information of the relevant media and then send your press release to them via email or regular mail.

A combination of both can also be a good option. You can first try sending your press release yourself and then forward it to a press distribution company if you want more coverage.

Advised and sold - Why self-proclaimed experts and coaches will run you down

01/05/2024 | by Patrick Fischer, M.Sc., Founder & Data Scientist: FDS

There are many self-proclaimed experts and coaches who try to run people through advice and sales. These individuals often offer a variety of services designed to help people achieve their goals. These services range from financial advice to personal development to career counseling. They promise that their services will help people improve their lives, but it is important to note that many of these "experts" do not have the qualifications or knowledge to actually help.

Experts and coaches are mainly trying to make money by giving advice and selling, rather than giving truly useful information. They may try to get people to buy a product or service they don't really need through a sales pitch. They may also try to get people to spend more money than they actually can to get a particular service or product. This type of "advising" can be harmful, as it does not help people achieve their goals, but instead entices them to pay more than they actually can.

It is therefore important to carefully check if the services from an expert or coach are really useful. One should always do an in-depth research before considering any consultation or sale. Pay attention to the qualifications of the expert and make sure that they have experience and knowledge to really help you achieve your goals. This way, you can ensure that you don't fall victim to a scam.

It provides a structured introduction to psychological research that enables readers to better understand their own behavior and that of others. It is an instructive work that will be of interest to psychologists and non-psychologists alike.

Find journalists and approach them correctly

12/21/2023 | by Patrick Fischer, M.Sc., Founder & Data Scientist: FDS
How do I find the contact details of editors and journalists without spending thousands of euros a year on PR software or a journalist database? To find journalists and contact them properly, you should first research which journalists report in your subject area. You can then look up which newspaper or news service they work for and try to contact them. It can be helpful to get the journalists' contact information by referring to social networks such as Twitter or LinkedIn or to press releases. When contacting them, be clear and concise with the information you want to share. If you are proposing a face-to-face meeting, you should write a brief introduction introducing the idea you are passionate about and an explanation of why you think it could make a meaningful story. It's also important to include a contact person who can provide the journalist with more details and quotes.
